Eran Artigues Earns USA South Rookie of the Week Honors

The freshman utility player from Charleston, South Carolina went a combined 7-for-14 (.500) with five RBI, one run scored, one double and one home run in a 3-1 week for the Avenging Angels versus USA South competition. In a doubleheader sweep of Huntingdon, Artigues was a combined 3-for-7 with one run batted in. In a doubleheader split with LaGrange, Artigues was a combined 4-for-7 with four RBI, one run scored, one double and one home run. In the first game of the doubleheader, an 8-7 victory, Artigues drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

RALEIGH, N.C. - During the first week of league play, three Meredith College freshmen earned recognition from the USA South as announced Monday from the conference office. This marks the second selection for Carlee Joseph and the first for Eran Artigues and Ran Zhang.
Artigues recorded a combined 7-for-14 from the plate, including five RBI, one double and one home run, as the softball Avenging Angels posted a 3-1 record on the week. In a doubleheader sweep over the Huntingdon Hawks, she put Meredith on the board with a RBI-single in a 2-1 win in game one.
In Sunday's split with the visiting LaGrange Panthers, Artigues crushed a two-run homer to tie the opening game 2-2 and added another RBI-double in the fifth to give Meredith the lead. Her RBI-single to center field in the bottom of the seventh secured the 8-7 win..
