From Meredith Sports Information Department, April 4, 2015
Meredith took early control in the first game with a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of four. The Monarchs loaded the bases and walked in two runs and drove in another on a single to left. Ally Griffin sacrificed to left field to add one more to give her team a one-point lead.
The Avenging Angels responded in the top of the sixth with two runners on base and Erica Occena at bat. Occena singled up the middle to score Kayla North and moved Amanda White to the corner. Brittany Bucklin scored both runners on a two-RBI single to put Meredith back in front by two.
MU's Kelsey Harrington led off in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run, and Alanna Anderson capped off the inning with a RBI-single to even the score at sevens.
The Monarchs held Meredith scoreless in the extra inning but drove in the tiebreaker runner in the bottom of the eighth to claim the win.
Methodist carried the momentum into the nightcap to take a 4-0 lead after two complete innings and added two more runs through six.
Courtney Saunders led off in the top of the seventh and stole second to get in scoring position with Janie Robinson at bat. Robinson moved Saunders to third, and Sarah Watson sent her home on a single to the opposite field.
The Meredith bats continued to swing as Occena moved Watson, and Haley Ervin loaded the bases on a hard hit to short. Bucklin scored two, but Ervin was caught at third for the Angels' second out. The MU defense took care of the next batter to claim the sweep.
