Scavone Selected to Boston College Hall of Fame

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Head Meredith College Softball Coach Kim Ryan Scavone joins nine others as the Class of 2014 in the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place October 17, and honorees will also be recognized during halftime of the Eagles' football game the next afternoon.

"I am so honored and excited to have been selected" said Scavone. "It will be a truly amazing experience to return to Boston College and celebrate alongside the other distinguished honorees. It is simply overwhelming to be joining such a talented group of former Eagles!"
Scavone enters her fifth season at the helm of Meredith softball and continues to recruit strong players for a successful Avenging Angel program. In just her second season at Meredith, Scavone led her team to a second-place USA South finish and earned her sport's Coach of the Year honors.
During Scavone's tenure with the Angels, 16 players earned All-Conference honors, two claimed All-Tournament, 6 earned USA South weekly selections, and 26 earned All-Academic awards.
Scavone was a four-year starter on the Division I Boston College softball team from 2000-2003, serving as team captain her junior and senior years. As a freshman, she garnered the 2000 Big East Rookie of the Year award, while also earning first team All-Rookie and first team All-Big East honors.
Scavone capped off her career as the Big East Pitcher of the Year in 2003 and earned first team All-Big East honors. She went 16-6 in the 2003 season which helped BC to its first regular season title since 1998 and an NCAA Tournament berth. Scavone finished her career as the Big East career and single-season strikeout record holder. She was also a first-team Regional All-American in 2003.
